Bio Reading Stockwood Discovery Centre 9th April
Stockwood Discovery Centre was redeveloped in 2007, which includes period gardens, the Mossman Collection, Sensory, World and Medicinal Gardens and the Bagshawe Gallery. This Centre is run by Luton Culture.
My work was placed amongst the Mossman collection’s extensive collection of horse drawn carriages, and historical cars, some having been featured in well known movies and TV productions. Stockwood is a very child friendly place with interactive opportunities for young ones to sit in the carriages and interact with the exhibits. There is a changing programme of special exhibitions.
Stockwood is great for a day out, especially if like today it’s grey and wet, because it has many indoor activities. However I think it comes into its own in the summer with the large green lawns , great for picnics and wonderfully kept gardens and outbuildings. This is a must in the summer holidays and was a real life saver when the kids were young. So many things to look at with interactive activities to extend your knowledge further.
I have myself visited this centre with my children over several years providing me with some cherished memories. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, with great facilities for children.
Oh and the cafe is excellent with wonderful cakes and coffee as well as lunches. They used to do a Sunday lunch which was very good value with mega large portions, but not sure if this is still on offer as haven’t eaten out in a while.
